Spotlight on ASPIRE

Hello, my name is Eugenia Chinsman and I am this year’s Chair for the Women In Management ASPIRE Committee. But I want to share something with you: initially, when I was approached about taking on this leadership role, I was quite reluctant. My daily schedule and the demands of work and commitments to my family were overwhelming – or so I thought. But as I began to learn more about this very special mentoring program, I found it hard to say, “NO”. In fact, I knew without a doubt, that it was “pay back” time for me.

You see, I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel the world with my husband, who works with the United Nations and as a result, I have been privileged to meet people of diverse cultures, ethnic groups and traditions. But in particular, I have lived in countries where women and the girl children are always the most underprivileged. The ASPIRE Program offered me the opportunity to make a difference right here at home.

ASPIRE empowers high school girls to formulate ideas about career options, aspirations and objectives. Through this program, they have access to speakers and tools that enable them to proactively identify which skills they will need to prepare them for the careers of their dreams. The ASPIRE Program is preparing these young women to become OUR future and leaders of tomorrow’s world.

So here I am, every month, spending two of the most incredible and rewarding hours of my life with the ASPIRE students at Westhill High School. Would you like to join me in giving back to our community? Join the ASPIRE Committee and you can. Here’s a little background but for more information, please contact me directly: Eugenia Chinsman at mantra2sj@cs.com or at 203.852.4300.
